Gao Zhenyu (b. 1964, Jiangsu, China) wasborn into a ceramic family, he began to learn traditional art of purple clay teapot in 1982 from GuJingzhou, the leading master in purple clay teapot craft. Six years later, he graduated from the department of crafts and arts in Nanjing University of the Arts. Later, he went to Japan and further studied ceramics in the department of industrial design in Musashino Art University. 1993, Gao obtained his masters degree in Japan and returned to China. It is in this year that he began his work in Chinese National Academy of Arts and established a ceramic art research center there.
